Mission Statement

To maintain and improve the Town's infrastructure entrusted to the department's care - its roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, buildings, grounds, cemeteries, vehicles, and equipment.

To accomplish its mission the department is organized into three divisions, Highway Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance and Buildings & Grounds Maintenance.

The department is responsible for contracted services such as paving, traffic signals, road striping, solid waste collection, catch basin cleaning, tree work and contract snow plowing.

Waste Collection

Public Works supervises the contracted collection of waste and recyclable services on a pay-as-you-throw basis through our Windham Recycles! program.  Waste Collection is governed by Chapter 192, the Solid Waste Ordinance, and contractors must apply for a license each year.  View this list of licensed haulers.
