The Windham Food Pantry is open to Windham residents with proof of residency. Residents are provided with food on a monthly basis. Please call to schedule an appointment to visit the Food Pantry. Food and non-food donations are accepted Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monetary donations are accepted Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Town Manager's Office or by mail at 8 School Rd, Windham, ME 04062.

The National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs provide nutritionally balanced low-cost or free meals to children in public and private schools and residential child care institutions. The programs are supported with cash reimbursement and USDA Foods. All families in the Food Supplement Program automatically qualify for free school meals. If you wish to apply for this program, applications may be obtained on-line or by calling the Food Service Director at 207-892-1800.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides money to help low-income homeowners and renters pay for heating costs. You may be eligible for assistance if your total household income falls within the income eligibility guidelines or 60% of the state area median income, whichever is less. Eligibility for households with incomes between 150% and 170% of the federal poverty guidelines is limited to those households with a member who is susceptible to hypothermia, such as elderly, a child twenty-four months of age or under, or with a doctor's diagnosis. Applications are accepted from August 1 through April 30 of each year. At the time of application, you should be prepared to provide names and social security numbers of all people living in your household, proof of gross household income for the last 3 or 12 months (to include, but not limited to: wages, social security, unemployment, pension, and disability payments) and proof of present address.

This program provides up to five meals each week. Volunteers and agency staff deliver meals four days a week (no deliveries on Wednesdays) and generally arrive between 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Meals are delivered either frozen or pre-heated based on client request or need. There is a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal. This service is provided by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. Please call 1-800-400-6325 for more information.

The Loan Closet provides residents with wheelchairs and other equipment for medical and physical needs. The Loan Closet is located on Windham Center Road next to Library and is staffed by volunteers and open by appointment only. To schedule an appointment with a volunteer please call 894-5999 to leave a message.

A community dinner is hosted by local churches to serve the Windham community. From September through May except when a Monday is a legal Holiday: The 1st Monday the meal site is at North Windham Union Church; The 2nd Monday the meal site is Our Lady of Perpetual Help; and The 3rd & 4th Mondays are at Windham Hill Church. *Please note that in November, the Monday of Thanksgiving week is at North Windham Union Church because of the large attendance. From June through August, the meal site is at St. Ann's Episcopal Church on the first 4 Mondays of each of those months. Now on the rare 5th Mondays throughout the year the meal site is at Standish Congregational Church on Oak Hill Road, Standish.
