Sgt. Ray Williams is a native of Cumberland, ME.  After graduating from Greely High School, Ray attended SMCC and attained an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement Technology.  Ray first worked as a reserve officer at Windham PD, and then was hired on as a fulltime officer on September 4, 1986.  He graduated from the MCJA with the 55th MCBPS in March of 1987.

Ray worked for the Patrol Division for 20 years, 13 of those as a motor officer (motorcycles).  In June of 2010 Ray accepted an interim detective’s assignment to the Criminal Investigations Division.  He was awarded the position permanently the following summer.  Ray worked investigations until November of 2014, when he was promoted to Sergeant and was re-assigned to the Patrol Division as one of two Evening Shift Commanders.

Ray is a certified instructor for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, teaching Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Drug Recognition Expert, Intoxilyzer 5000ES, and Firearms.  He has been running the Department’s Firearms program since 2006, and has been the department’s Armorer since 1993. Ray plans on finishing his career with the Windham Police Department with more the 35 years on the job when he retires.
