Detective Eugene Gallant is a native of Scarborough, ME. After high school Gene attended SMCC, and attained an Associate degree in Law Enforcement Technology. Gene was hired as a full time officer for Buxton PD in 1996. He attended the MCJA and graduated with the 84th Municipal County Basic Police School (MCBPS) in 1997. Gene was hired as a full time Windham PD officer in May of 1999. Gene worked for the Patrol Division on the night shift until he was temporarily assigned as an evidence technician / property officer in the fall of 2013 to help the department prepare for a database change. Gene was assigned as a Detective to the Criminal Investigation Division, continuing his role as an evidence technician in October of 2014. As part of this assignment Gene is authorized to access and utilize the Metro Regional Crime Lab located at Portland PD.
Gene is also a crash re-constructionist/forensic mapper, and a Drug Recognition Expert Instructor. Gene has been assigned to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team since 2005 and is certified to the level of Dive Master. Gene is a member, and assists Sergeant Jason Andrews in supervising the Windham Police Department Honor Guard. In 2006 Gene was assigned to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy as a Cadre for the 11th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
